Fault codes

Postby venge » Sun Mar 10, 2013 8:54 pm

Hi

Before I begin may I explain that I am the least technically minded person on Earth and therefore would appreciate any response in leymans terms.

I have a 2000 X308 3.2 V8 that has been running a tad rough lately so I purchased a code reader which upon testing the car has shown up 2 faults. The first states 'Ignition coil H primary/secondary circuit malfunction'. I am aware this looks like a coil that needs replacing but my first question is, how do I find out which coil is 'H' and are they easy to change?

Secondly 'Linear 02 sensor control chip (bank 1)' not sure what that is or where I would find it.

Any help in locating the two points would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

coil H should be the nearest to the windscreen on the passenger side,
as they are A-H front right to back left as your sat in the car

the O2 sensor , is the lambda sensor on the exhaust , drivers side, second sensor downstream

i would change the coil first, as this may be upsetting the ECU and the exhaust , even though the injector for that cylinder is electronically shut off ,

you will need a four ( 4 ) pin coil for your car , not the 2 pin version

replacing the coil may negate the O2 sensor fault
