I am sure this has come up before (although I can't find it.)

It must arise for people having long term restorations of valuable cars, too, in fact I think the club had a scheme for this a while back.

If no one else chime in, give Graham Searle aring, if none of the club insureres will do it, he is likely to know someone who will.

I had 'Laid Up Cover' from Footman James on a show capri a few years back, just had cover for fire and theft.

You should have insured the car first then SORN that would have given you 12 months.
That's the way i did it as I work overseas most of the time........try Adrian Flux I have been with them for the last 2 years and are good valve!

Just to add my "tuppence worth" I looked at getting laid up cover for a long term project (Nobel 200 Microcar) a few years back and found that SOME of the policies on offer don't actually cover very much at all. I cancelled a policy with one company after reading the terms, conditions and exclusions.

A possible alternative that I have found quite economical in the past is to use an ordinary classic policy with the limited milage option as low as possible and all the extras removed (Glass cover, legal protection, recovery etc). I did this recently while the XJS was off the road for a few months. Laid up cover was £85 and basic classic cover was £120 with mileage limited to 500 per year. Ok an extra 35 quid but it covered a lot more and IMHO was much more flexible as to where the blue beast could be kept and even allowed a "lets see what its going to fail on MOT test" (It passed by the way) before going back into hibernation to allow body work repairs to be done.

Hope this is useful
