Celebration Exhaust Options

Postby steveww » Mon Nov 09, 2009 7:59 pm

I have just had to remove the exhaust manifolds and front section as part of the front suspension rebuild. Looking at the exhaust it is a little tired and I am thinking I may as well replace it while I have most of it out.

What are the options for the Aj16 engine?

I have already spoken to AJ6 Engineering and they tell me that their TT system is not suitable. What have other people fitted to the AJ16 engine?

I would also like to do the same on my AJ16 convertible.

Thanks for the Blue Flame link.

I am really interested to hear from anyone that has a system like this fitted.

My main concern about fitting a sports system is the noise, especially on a Convertible. I currently enjoy the level of refinement and do not want to trade that for a few extra BHP.

Hi Chris

Thank you for the link, they look ideal.

I too have the same concerns as Steve as my car is also a convertible, I will give them a call.

I have just spoken to a very helpful chap from BlueFlame. I had failed to notice that there are pictures and a video clip of a face lift XJS with the system fitted. The drive by video show that the system is not very loud at all, most of the noise is tyre roar.

Their system is less expensive than the AJ6 system and they do replacement cats for a reasonable price as well.

The current lead time is about 4 weeks, I will be ordering one soon.

Great - I look forward to hearing how you get on. My pipes over the rear axle are now looking tired but the rest is still ok. amazingly after 14 years! It must start to go soon so am looking very hard at what to replace with and as another member says, I do not have a bottomless pit of cash! I have looked before and there is no one else other than blyue flame who actively advertise and have strong experience of the XJS (late model). A number offered to fit one and then have the pattern - which I assume they may give me a small discount as they can then sell it on but I would rather go to someone who has already ironed out any problems with the design.

Please keep us up to date on this job - most interesting; perhaps some pictures? They speak of tickling up the electronics on their site. Are you having your car 'chipped' too? Have never heard of an XJS being the subject of such mysteries.

This is my winter project, the car is not scheduled to be back on the road until April when the salt on the roads has been washed away.

Follow the project (with pictures) on my web site www.steveww.org
