Powerfold Mirrors X150

On my 2008 4.2L XK my drivers door mirror falls slightly short of reaching the fully retracted position by 1 to 1.5 inches (apart from this issue it works OK and extends to the driving position). I'm going to try lubrication and exercise of the swivel joint but expect I may need to remove the mirror glass to do this properly. What is the exact procedure for removing the mirror glass without breaking it? Any other thoughts welcomed. Thanks Steve M

Pull the outer edge of the mirror glass towards the rear of the car. That will release the glass from its two clips. Mike.
