Hello everyone,
My 1967 Series 1 E type Roadster recently passed its MOT without any advisories except that one of the tyres had a slight crack in it and was perished?
Can anyone please advise which are the best size / value replacement tyres to go for (tubed or tubeless?).
Currently she is running on Avon Radial Steel 185 R15 93H
Many thanks.
kind regards,
David

The answers aren't necessarily simple. If you are satisfied with the performance of your existing tyres, stick with that size and possibly brand. Tubed or tubeless rather depends upon the type of wheels the car wears. Some are not suitable for tubeless tyres. It might be an old car but all E-Types can manage more than 130mph and can generate quite high cornering forces. Whatever tyres you fit should be capable of matching the E's performance even if you only pootle around. Don't take any risks with tyres and give your insurance company a cause to reject a future claim because the car has unsuitable tyres. The major tyre manufacturers (Dunlop, Pirelli, Michelin) offer period correct, albeit expensive, tyres. You might also want to check out Blockley tyres, which offers a similar 185 x 15 VR rated (high speed) tyre at a lower price. Mike.
