Can't Wait for my F-Type

There's lots of comment around on the 'net about F-types having software updates from Dealers that reduced / eliminated the pops and bangs on the overrun. I remember listening to the first supercharged V8 models that my local Dealer had as a demo and it sounded wonderful on the overrun, much, much noisier than the latest V8R's that I've heard.

The cars affected / most affected are the 2014 and 2015 models. It seems that, after that, Jaguar had put a different programme in the new cars which had made them quieter on the overrun from new.

So, it depends if your car is one of the original noisier 2015 models, or was quieter from new.

The other issue is that Dealers seem to refuse to put the ECU programme back to original. So, you might have to live with it now, whether an earlier or late 2015 car.

Whilst I can admire the F-type for what it is, I don't really have a desire to own one as it simply "doesn't do it for me". That said, I have had lots of outings in various Convertible and Coupe F-type as the local dealer tried to get me into one. The experience of a very raucous SV AWD V8 version made me feel that the car was perpetually "angry" with its over noisy exhaust.

Now I like pops and bangs as well as the next petrolhead, but the F-type SV was simply too much, it was almost encouraging one to drive like a hooligan - very un-Jaguar like.

I would accept that your F-type is now as it should be, makes the right noise and gets down the road very nicely. You also managed to get the dealer to fix those niggles that came with the car, so now it should be time to enjoy it. Good luck.

I am enjoying the F-Type but one of the things that attracted me to the car was the raucous noise it makes when you push the active exhaust button inside the car in 'Dynamic' mode. That said, it doesn't have to be raucous if you leave it in normal driving mode especially if you don't want to wake the neighbours first thing on a Sunday morning on the way to a car show!
There is a time and place (tunnel to name one place) to use the 'Dynamic' mode and the active exhaust button to bring a smile to ones face!!
