Engine support

I am planning to rebuild the suspension and need to support the engine while I drop the subframe. I have worked out I can make my own support but how do I attach it to the engine? From the workshop manual the 3.6 appears to have a lifting eye but the 4.0 does not have such luxury. Any ideas what I can do here? What have other done?

I might be barking up the wrong tree here Steve,
But i am sure there was a post recently, and they suggested putting a bar or something across the front wings i think and hanging the engine from that.

The bar across the wings I have figured out.
Where to attach the engine is the tricky bit.

Sorry! doh.
How about some big ratchet straps right around the engine, like the sort they use on lorries?

The official way is to use these, available at JEC spares:
Engine lifting brackets (pair)
XJS, XJ40 & X300 (3.6 & 4.0)
Price: £42.82

When I did mine, I wrapped a chain under both inlet & exhaust manifolds which worked but didn't give a lot of space to get enough tension to lift the engine.

Ah that's what I am looking for
I had looked on the Jaguar Classic Spares site but could not find any of the specialist service tools. I forgot to look on the JEC site doh
