Re: 2003 XK 8
The XK8 is supplied with a traction control system. Jaguar's description of how it operates is:
Traction control is an additional function added to the anti-lock control - stability assist system. The vehicles driven wheels are continually monitored for wheel spin relative to the calculated reference speed and to each other. If wheel spin is detected, the traction control function intervenes independently of the driver, applying brake pressure to the slipping wheel and reducing the engine drive torque supply. Meanwhile, brake pressure is modulated by the traction control until traction is re-established. Traction control brake actuation is diminished above 40 km/h (25 mph). Above this speed traction control relies primarily on engine torque reduction.
I hope that helps. Mike.

Re: 2003 XK 8
Are you responding to my concern about jolting into gear and not changing up?

Hi Ron,
I'm puzzled by your question. I was responding to Darryl's attached to this thread. Mike.

Re: 2003 XK 8 4.2 Ltr
Hello, It's a 4.2 Ltr... Thanks for the Info..!!
It's Reassuring to Know The Car Will be Safe Driving Past Schools ( 20mph limit !!! ) but Over 25MPH I Guess it's Less Reassuring...!!!
After Driving Classic Jaguars Hundreds of 1000's miles Since 1971 on Power Lock Diff's, and Still Am..!! I'm disappointed the XK 8 was Not Fitted with this Simple & Reliable Function..!!
The XK 8... 6 Speed G/B is a Pleasure to Use and Smooth Changes, but Somehow I'm still attracted to My Current 3.8 Jag Creation using 2.88 P/L Diff + Manual + O/Drive G/box giving Cruising Speed of around 36 mph/1000 revs ( max 6000 revs in Lower Gears !! ) + the Exhaust Noise ..!!!
However, Much more Relaxing in the XK 8 with the added Importance of Passenger Approval + it has a Hood + We don't Have to Wear M/Cycle Clothing..!!
Jaguars Have Always been Pleasurable Motoring, but I'm Unable to Achieve Enthusiasm for Nicoli Tesla Brilliant 1926 Patent for the Electric Car which Musk has been following since the 1980's..?? ..!!
So I guess Somehow I'll be Driving Classic Jaguars into the Sunset hopefully still on E5 Fuel ..!!
