Driver door lock

My 4.0 facelift has developed a fault in the door lock barrel in that when entering the key it will not turn either way at all. Using the fob or passenger lock locks the car but the motors immediately kick in and unlock it.

Any ideas on how to diagnose and fix ?

Just seen this and expect you have it sorted now?? I had same problem with mine as the central door locking failed so tried to enter with the key and would not work like yours. Arghh.

Called out the AA and he did same as me - squirt in loads of WD40 and keep wiggling the key- It is gummed up and needs working free - it will come right eventually. I then replaced a burned out central locking motor and took the chance to clean and grease everything. I now exercise the locks on a regular basis. Lesson learned!
