Hi All Newbie to JEC here have an X300 Sovereign with only one key. That is in the car and it has locked itself. Any ideas, I would rather not break a window..... Bonnet and boot are open car is in the garage so can get to tools and battery.

You don't say where you are, but there may be an auto locksmith in your area. Alternatively, find a local / friendly car thief with the right tools! Do you have a fob or simple key?

Don't know if it will work with your car but worth a try ?

Re: Locked out key inside
I did exactly this with my XJ40 and whilst I'm not sure how similar the door designs are, in case it helps, here's how I got in:
I got a wire coat hanger, opened it out and formed one end into a loop big enough to fit over the interior door release handle. Then I got a crowbar, and using some thick cardboard and masking tape to protect the car roofline and door top, gently levered the top of the door open enough to slip the looped end of the coat hanger into the car. The next bit is a bit fiddly - you have to bend the coat hanger so that as you feed it into the car, it bends around and enables you to hook it on the handle - this took me about half an hour to perfect. Once you've got it hooked, you can slide the other end round toward the back of the door so that you can pull it backwards to operate the handle and release the door.
Bonus points are awarded in the first instance for not locking yourself out of the car with the keys in the ignition and the engine running...

Re: Locked out key inside
Managed to get in using a piece of parcel strapping found in a nearby skip. This slides through the door seals easier than a coat hook and you get better control of hooking it round the door pin. This was suggested on another forum. Have got a spare key now!
Re: Locked out key inside
Glad you eventually got back in.
You can never have too many spare keys
.
Take care.
