Is it possible to switch off ALL of the interior lights while the doors are open? I find when I am cleaning or working on the interior the lights can be on for hours so it would seem sensible to switch them off, but how? :?:

Pull the fuse serving the interior light circuit.

That'll do the trick.

Thats what i have done, and also seeing as it's a common battery killer, i have pulled and thrown away the one for the boot light.

why not fit your own switch ?? remove the positive feed wire to the int light fuse ,extend it and connect to a simple on/off switch hidden out of site ,run a wire from the other side of the switch back to the fuse

What a load of rot to suggest that, the topic has anything to do with failing batteries.
And what is all that waffle about being at an event blah blah blah.
Talk sense.

There are also lots of LEDs available now in standard fitments which have a very low amperage which could be used on lamps that can't be easily switched off.

Google ultradeds or similar for descriptions of what is available.

And to think I only wanted to leave the doors open while I clean the car.

My battery is fine I have never had a battery problem, partly because my car rarely goes for more than a week without being driven and not just warmed up, and secondly because my car is unlocked when parked up in my secure garage so the alarm is not draining the power.

I have always found it odd that so many car owners have problems with batteries, if they would just drive their cars they would be fine and not keep them as trophies and ornaments. :) :) :)

Hi JED 1961

And helps you see where all the dust is.
Strange when I suggested it should be OK for 8 hours
Im told I am talking rubbish
Thanks for proving me right.

Not all the interior lights were left on sunshine.

Still reckon you are talking rubbish.

Hi i have read with interest re the posts on this subject and in my opinion it would be unwise to fit a switch in order to turn off the interior lights these act as a safty circuit so that you know that every door bonnet and boot are closed before you drive off if the lights fail to go out after 10 to 15 seconds after the doors are shut it means a door boot or bonnet still remain open so fitting a switch then forgetting to reset it would defeat the oject if your cleaning or working on the car for long periods then by allmeans pull the fuse if all lights are left on it will drain the battery in a few hours i know i have done it
hope this helps Regards brycabriolet xj-sc
