CAN ANYONE HELP WITH FACELIFT IGNITION BARREL PLEASE!!

Postby Mercury RV » Tue Dec 13, 2022 1:04 am

Good evening everyone, Having decided that my ignition switch was a little sticky and needing some lock lubricant, i thought that I should give a little squirt from the can, BAD MOVE!! I put the straw from the can into the opening, gave it a few puffs and then withdrew it, well partly, it left behind the end inch of the straw stuck inside. Now why did I do that? So I am in the process of removing the steering lock, only to be confronted with yet another problem in that one shear bolt came out fine, but the one on the left is a real pain. I will manage to get it out in the end, but I would like to get hold of a new ignition barrel and keys, PLEASE can anyone help? Kindest regards, Simon (Kent Area)

Simon,

There seems to be at least one boxed one on eBay, and Manners also seem to be advertising it (which is unusual as Jaguar are listing as NLA)

Good luck

Hi Paul, Checked with David Manners website, all the ones I found say NLA, any links would assist if you can please?

Hi again, Been searching again and again, I can find the steering lock unit (which I managed to find a new one) but that does not have the ignition barrel and keys, and that is the part I am needing. Kindest regards, Simon

In case anyone is interested, I managed to find a new boxed ignition barrel, obviously it was not the same code as the remainder of the locks on the car, so I have a locksmith who re-coded it to the correct code of the existing key, he can also make new TIBBE keys if you need them, something that is not easy to find anymore. If you need help with getting a new lock re coded or even a spare key, drop me a PM or email me direct, happy to help with his direct details. In case you wonder, 'How much did he charge you?' he asked for £30, but I was so happy with his work and the way he turned it round, I paid him £50, in my opinion it was well worth it.
