Facelift Headlamp Lens Project - Your Feedback Needed!

Hello all,

A quick plug for the article written by myself and Mike Horlor in the November 2022 (vol.38, no.11) issue of Jaguar Enthusiast - the XJS Facelift Headlamp Lens project!

I've been working on a replacement XJS facelift headlamp lens idea - on and off - since the end of 2020. Since my own car had a lamp smashed in June 2020, when a stray stone went through it on the M6 (see viewtopic.php?f=40&t=15272), I became very aware of how precarious the supply for certain XJS items had become and how one small breakage could lead to a lot of heartache.

Mike's call for parts ideas at the kick off of the Spares Initiative with S.N.G Barratt earlier this year has given the lens project fresh impetus. Mike put me in touch with the team at S.N.G Barratt and they have been a pleasure to work with. The project has progressed well and now needs feedback from the XJS fraternity regarding the suitability of the idea.

If you have any comments on the proposal - a pair of UK spec polycarbonate lenses with UV protective coating, supplied with fitting instructions and adhesive for around £300 - please contact Mike (spares@jec.org.uk), ideally with positive expressions of interest by the end of November. I have to stress that I gain nothing personally from this project, other than the satisfaction of hopefully helping to keep our XJSs on the road!
