Rear Seat removal - easy way to remove?

Postby bmc123 » Sun Feb 14, 2010 12:53 am

is there a method to removing the rear seat? I want to lift the seat up to check behind and under it and don't want to break anything :D

the base is easy

remove the two heel-guards over the fusebox's, and then remove the two ( i think ) screws holding the base in place, then lift up at the front and remove carefully

however

to remove the rear seat back upright, you have to remove the seatbelt mounting points....not advised if you dont have the right tools , and your messing with safety devices

what do you want to look at, as there aint much back there, and you cant get to anything in the boot at all, its sealed

you do have to remove the full back seat to remove the rear shelf though

i have had all this out for several jobs, not too bad , but a little involved and you can easily damage the trim or leather

Thanks for that, I just need the main seat lifted out, not the back thankfully - its for cleaning purposes. 8)

I have a similar issue, I need to feed a wire through to the boot for a rear camera. I was hoping to find a hole through to the boot via removal of the rear seat. Took out the base but couldn’t get the back out. Didn’t remove seat belt bolts. However, from what is said here, there will be no point removing the seat upright if there is no access to the boot. Any suggestions how i can feed a wire through to the boot?

There will be wires attached to the right side ( I think) boot hinge, for the number plate lights etc, look for the grommet where they enter passenger compartment, should be able to feed wires through there.

Yes, I guess that's true, so not a lot of help. Check in boot for any access to parcel shelf area?
