Hello all,
Having solved my recent no-start problem (ECU), my wonderful XJS 4.0 has moved on to its next problem.
Pulling away in first gear when its been started from cold, it will on about 50% of occasions lose power and only just manage not to stall. This problem is worse and much more obvious the more power you apply.
The problem often seems to go away if, after a short trip, you restart the engine and drive off, after which it will display normal behaviour, or just persevere until the problem goes away.
Can anyone please suggest what I need to be investigating to get this sorted? Torque converter or vacuum pipes?
Thanks.

Could it be air fuel mixture when cold? ie too weak or too rich? would certainly cause the car to struggle from set off and would be worse if you tried to give it more throttle. Is it ok when warm? even after a 30 mins or so rest , restarting the warm engine is it ok then?
Just a thought though
