I have conflicting advice re fitting a child seat in the front passenger seat of a 2008 XK Convertible. The handbook says yes, the law can be ambiguous to my simple mind. Halfords advised when trying to buy a seat they would only demonstrate the fitting but not fit it as the model is not on their database, and it is at my own risk. I am now “spooked” and unsure, with an irate toddler wanting to travel in the “nice car”. Anyone out there have any advice?

Re: Child seat
Hi Tom, I fully appreciate the 'wanting to sit in the front syndrome' but truthfully it is not advisable. I suggest you check out the ROSPA website, which you can reach by clicking the link below. This fully explains the pros and cons so you can make a properly informed decision.

I am not aware of their being any ISOFIX points on the front seat of the X-150 model, but there are air bags which are particularly bad in conjunction with children in the front seats. Many child car seats can be secured only by the, 3-point, seatbelt but these require the child to be above a certain weight to allow safe carriage.
Its a potential minefield, but safety has to be paramount.

JIM, many thanks for the advice and link. Your comment on safety I very much agree on. I think I must just deal with the guilty feeling each time I drive it.
