Good evening Guys, here's hoping you can help with my current issue.
My Dec 2005 4.2 LWB Sovereign is low on the off side rear corner. There are no error messages. No codes. Drives fine (to me). Pump reconditioned a few months ago.
On start up the car rises at 3 corners.
According to my mechanic the pressure is low at 4 bar? However with a relay removed (don't ask which as I have no idea) the pressure increases to 12 bar. I assume that this is in the reservoir tank.
Any clues?
I have purchased a used air spring just in case. If this is fitted will the suspension need recalibration?
Thank you in anticipation
Tony
Off side rear corner down
Re: Off side rear corner down
Tony,
On the face of it, this doesn't seem like a spring issue? If it was, I would expect the compressor to keep running as it tried to bring the car up level.
I wonder if the issue is more likely to be a sensor problem, with the car "thinking" it is level on all corners when one is actually down. Check the wiring integrity on the rear sensor at the problem corner.
(I think that Jaguar moved the X350 from a 4-sensor setup to a 3-sensor setup at some point, with only a single sensor controlling the rear? I might have got that wrong?)

Re: Off side rear corner down
Many thanks for your reply Paul, I will pass the info on.
I have been informed that it has three sensors with two at the rear and one up front. At least one of us will be right Paul
Cheers

Re: Off side rear corner down
Tony,
I think your version of 2 sensors at the rear would make more sense!
Certainly my 2003 version had 2 rear sensors, as I remember changing one of them when my car kept levelling itself down when left standing for a while.

Re: Off side rear corner down
Your car should have one front and two rear sensors.
It's not unknown for the clip which holds the sensor in position to fail and allow the sensor to move, giving a false reading thus incorrect height. If that is the case, refixing it will solve the problem without the need for SDD to reset the heights.
