Hello
Re: 2002 XJ8
Without warning my heater failed. No voltage to auxiliary heater pump.
I vaguely remember that a faulty security sounder could be a likely fault.
I checked engine bay fuses and fuse No. 3, a 10 Amp had blown, this does protect a security sounder. I replaced fuse and as soon as I start engine it blows and this is with the heater pump disconnected.
I'd be very grateful if someone would please let me know where this sounder is and what is involved in removing it?
Thank you.

Re: Heater Failure
In the XK8 it is in drivers wheel arch, easily visible when you remove the liner, not sure if XJ is the same though. Once found just unplug it, it’s not part of the main alarm anyway.

Re: Heater Failure
Tattyhead,
From memory, the sounder on an x308 is to the left side of the engine radiator.
Good luck

Re: Heater Failure
Thank you for your reply. I need to remove inner wheel arch liner for access. Hopefully that sorts it.In the XK8 it is in drivers wheel arch, easily visible when you remove the liner, not sure if XJ is the same though. Once found just unplug it, it’s not part of the main alarm anyway.

Re: Heater Failure
Hi Tattyhead, have you checked out the February 2022 magazine this month? The Modern XK column has a piece on repairs to the auxiliary sounder on an XK8, might give you some pointers for the repairs on your X308.
