Dear All

It's time to think about our Forum event for the end of this season and I've tried to arrange something that's easy to get to for most of us..........

The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon in the Midlands houses a premier collection of cars primarily from the Austin-Morris/BL/Rover stable. They are holding a rally for all classics on Sunday 27th September, The Gaydon Autumn Classic. See here........

http://events.heritage-motor-centre.co. ... assic.html

The venue is centrally located in England, being served by the M40 motorway, so hopefully those of you from further north will be able to attend easily. Whilst there is not much of Jaguar interest, there is a wealth of British motoring history both cars and memorabilia on display, for those of you who have never been I can guarantee a treat. It's many years since I have been so I'm looking forward to seeing how the museum has developed in the interim period.

If the weather is fair there will be plenty of opportunity to look at the visiting classics of all types (and re-live a few memories). If not so good - as seems to have been the case so far this year - then the museum offers a warm refuge with all facilities. Admission on the day is at a special rate of £5.00 per person.

John Bishop, the Museum Car Clubs and Groups Co-ordinator has e-mailed me as follows:-

"Hello Tony,
Thank you for the enquiry, the gathering would be ideal for Forum Members.
All drivers and passengers of Veteran,Vintage & Classic vehicles attending can park on the Display Arenas FREE of charge, if they wish to enter the Museum they may do so at £5 per person, under 5's FREE. Just turn up on the day and park together."

I do hope that this appeals to you all and I think that we can have an enjoyable day out and meet. It should certainly be weather-proof!

As usual please post below to express your interest and give an idea for numbers and a little nearer the day I'll post a new thread for you to confirm attendance.

Best Wishes
Tony

I doubt my XJS will be road-legal by then, but it'll be a good outing for the Rover P6B..

Hi Chris

I'm so pleased to hear that you have a P6 - I ran lots of these cars for many many years before succumbing to the Jag scene, latterly with a P6B in Almond that I completely restored and did over 100K in. I traded it in against my first 3.6 Coupe.

I do hope that you can bring your car along and look forward to talking all things P6 :)

Tony,

In that case, I'll be there. The P6B isn't in the greatest of conditions, but as I've only just picked it up, hopefully that'll be excused.

I've had P6s and P6Bs for about 16 years now since I was a teenager.. great cars to play with, although I can't wait to get my XJS on the road.

Regards,

Chris

Mark - as far as I know you'll get in for a fiver just the same as everyone else, despite your youth and beauty.

Chris - thats great, looking forward to seeing your P6.

Based on responses so far it's shaping up to be a real fun day out :P

You've just made my day. After being rained out at Thoresby and missing most of the events down in the South for one reason or another I thought my season would draw to a close with spares day. So I would very much look forward to joining you all at Gaydon in my black 1989 3.6 Coupe.

One more excuse for a wash and polish!!!

Yes please! Due to weather and genuine swine flu, I also have missed a number of events this year.

If the weather is fine, then it'll be a great run for the XJ-S else it'll be the Daimler Six.

Cheers, Rich.

Hi Tony

Sounds like a good trip, you can count us in, it has been a few years since
I have been to Gaydon. Any excuse to drive the 'money pitt' out as my wife lovingly referes to.

Let us hope for good weather on the day.

Regards

I think me and the baby might try and have a drive down to this meet up, seeing the Jag is back on the road.
If i can get his baby seat in that is.
Just a thought, if everyone is meeting up, why dont we all bring any parts etc that you may want to sell, swap or donate to others?
