finally bitten the bullet

Postby bigjim » Thu Jul 30, 2009 10:29 pm

Hi there I have just aquired a rather sad looking 1987 3.6 manual as company for my xj40. She is dark blue with a pale brown interior and has been dormant for nearly four years. The old girl is almost rust free!!! I hope to have her on the road in a few weeks and then gradually tart her up as time and funds allow. A major oil leak from the cooler and a water leak from the plate at the rear of the engine has so far prevented me from driving her, (I think this was why she was laid up in the first place) but watch this space.

Greetings to all on the forum

Hey - welcome to the forum.

Sounds like you've got a cracking XJ-S If only we all had rust-free cars with nothing wrong but a couple of fluid leaks!

Let's see some pictures of it and let us all know how you're getting on with sorting the problems out :)

All the best,

Simon R.

Thank you.
I will post photos when I have had a chance to clean her up a bit. I did manage to drive her around the yard yeasterday and a few other minor faults manifested themselves, still nothing that can't be sorted (stiff brakes, leaky rad and 2k rpm at idle) ho hum.
