Got the new car

Hi Everyone, I have got my 2005 XKR convertible 4.2S Home, Very pleased with it, I have not had a lot of time to drive it yet. The only problem it has is it does not have a sat NAV cd in it. I probably wont use it but it is a blank screen. And it spoils the dash look This seems to be a minefield buying off ebay with what will work and what does not, Can anyone help or give the name of a good company that could help me please.

Unless the screen is turned off via the menu, it shouldn't be blank, it should display whatever function was previously selected. Press the menu button, if it remains blank there is a fault, possibly as simple as poor battery charge. If it lights up and offers options, select one of your choice.
As far as navigation discs go, I have previously purchased new copy discs from various eBay sources without problems, but if copies worry you, used genuine ones are frequently available.

I have a set of 3 2006 discs from my old 2006 XK, I replaced them with newer ones when I had the car. You are welcome to have them as I no longer need them, just send me a private message with your address.

That's a great(est?) version of the X100 you've got in my skewed opinion You'll enjoy it enormously.

Sadly the offer of three discs from Andy's X150 model XK will not work in your X100 car

The last disc (single disc) issued was, I thought, the one dated 2002 fitted in my own 4.2S at build in 2005 although another member recently showed a picture of one dated 2003. Whatever, the discs are way out of date and of limited use for navigation. More . But it will provide an image of an analogue clock that works See viewtopic.php?f=63&t=16206 for some photos and general info.

Hi Paul, congratulations and welcome to the wonderful world of Modern XK Motoring! I am sure you will be aware, but just in case it hasn't sunk in, the Satnav in the X-100 is worse than a broken watch - its at least correct twice a day!
I would recommend you forget the aesthetics of the X-100 Satnav and instead go for the DIY upgrade to install a suitable Garmin (the 5.5 inch version is best), complete with free for life map updates and Wi-Fi included. From there it is a simple route to also add a reversing camera, which is really cool on an X-100.
There is a step by step guide in the JE magazine of September 2020, but if you would like a copy of the photo instructions provided by the author of that particular upgrade, drop me an email and I will send it on to you. My email address appears at the top of the Modern XK pages of the magazine.

I don't think the satnav in the X100 is quite as bad as Jim makes out but it is a far cry from more modern systems. You often find yourself driving on new roads that the satnav doesn't think exist, and to set a destination I often end up finding it on Google Maps on the mobile and then finding the nearest position on the satnav - exactly what you would expect from maps that are 20 years old. However, that aside, it works if you want to keep the originality, but the upgrade to a Garmin system that Jim mentions looks achievable if you are a practical sort of person. It's down to personal choice. Personally I would rather keep the original system and use Google Maps on the mobile if needs be.

Hi Thank you all for the comments. I am going to try and see if the disc from my 2007 S type will work, I gave the car to my brother , so I have to get the disc back. I really am not to bothered about using the sat nav. just dont want a blank screen.
