Hi just purchased an 2002 Executive it has the controls for a phone on the steering wheel and on the stereo controls, there is no phone in the centre armrest like some older models, I assume there must be a way to connect a phone or why would Jaguar fit the controls, I have an apple I phone.

Hi lovejags, I don’t think there is any way of connecting a phone via Bluetooth on a 308. Parrot hands free can be wired in to use the speakers but I don’t think the steering wheel controls can be used.

Will be interested to be proved wrong because I’ll update my Daimler super.

I would think a previous owner has removed the phone for some reason.
You can pick up the phones on eBay or the Jaguar breakers quite easily:

Check to see if the connector is still in the armrest.If it is still there a phone should just plug in and work.
Also check to see if the module is still in the boot,I think it is in front of the battery.
Mine has the corded Motorola phone,I put a pay as you go sim in it and it works perfectly.
I think the aerial is in the rear screen.
I have found this company that can fit bluetooth but they are in the U.S.A.

Have not found a company in the U.K.that can do this kind of work I'm afraid.
For playing music from my phone using bluetooth I use a bluetooth fm transmitter like this:

I leave it plugged in the rear cigar lighter socket and once set up it connects to my phone automatically each time I enter the car.
No issues with quality or interference when playing music IMHO.This is the actual one that I have:

I have a PDF on how to fit bluetooth in an X308 but it is way beyond my capabilities(a lot of splicing into wires and the like).

I have a Highway 600 in my 2007 XKR for streaming music and to get digital radio I will probably get another one as they also come with phone connectivity

I think you've got a number of options to install phone capability on an x308:

- a simple bluetooth connection to an FM receiver plugged into the cigarette lighter socket which then runs through a defined radio preset
- fit a Parrot bluetooth system
- purchase and fit the original Jaguar phone. It's a Jaguar-specific Motorola Startac 130 coupled with a transceiver. It HAS to be the Jaguar-specific phone which has a different firmware to a standard Startac phone. You can find the whole kit on ebay relatively easily
- fit the Jaguar Motorola Bluetooth module. It was certainly available on US X308s around 2001. I THINK a similar (or the same) system was fitted to some VW models
- intercept the existing wiring and a fit a Bluetooth module which you could then link to your own phone. You need to be fairly handy at understanding the wiring diagrams but a few guys have done writeups on it. I have a document which explains some of it if you're interested.

I don't know but there's a few hints here:

- It SEEMS to be fed directly from the rearmost of the battery terminals
- it has what seems to be two flat-blade, thick-gauge connections exiting from the side.

So, my guess would be it's a distribution point for either main positive or negative battery feeds, perhaps to the front bulkhead terminal points?

Don't think it's anything at all to do with the telephone circuitry in the car.

That is the High Power Protection Module.

High Power Protection Module.
The high power protection module contains three 250
amperes fuses. Two fuses connected in parallel provide
500 amperes protection for the starter supply. The third
fuse provides 250 amperes protection for the fuse box
supplies.
Power Distribution Cables.
Heavy duty power distribution cables connect the battery
to the body and the high power protection module,
and the high power protection module to the engine
starter and the vehicle fuse boxes.
