Alternative to Southern Day - Uppark House Sunday 26th July

If, like me you were looking forward to a day out at Southern Day, why not go to the JEC Sussex regional day at Uppark House (National Trust - see link below) the Sunday before.

I have spoken to Richard Treacher the organiser and he says that all XJS Forum members will be very welcome, he has sent me the following info.......



"I would like to let you know about and invite you to Sussex Jaguar Day which we will be holding on Sunday 26 July at Uppark House. It is only 9 miles north/west of Goodwood Motor Circuit. Directions are easy from the A3 Petersfield to South Harting village and from Chichester A27 take the Midhurst road to Lavant then bear left over the South Downs to South Harting.

The event will open from 11.00am and will be very much a family day offering walks around the magnificent gardens, optional tours of the house and its interior together with a visit to the coffee shop / restaurant and the gift shop with all the National Trust offerings.

For the event, there will be awards for various categories of Jaguars / Daimlers:

- Car of the Day
- Pre 75 Saloon
- Pre 75 Sports
- Post 75 Saloon
- Post 75 Sports

I would be grateful if you’d please publicise this event to your members and encourage them to come along as I hope you’ll be able to do.

Organised by the East and West Sussex Regions of the Jaguar Enthusiasts’ Club we would like to welcome you to this National Trust late 17th Century house and gardens, purchased in 1747 by Matthew Featherstonhaugh and his family. The house has a certain Dutch appearance.

The event opens from 11.00am and will be a family day offering walks around the magnificent gardens, optional tours of the house and its interior together with a visit to the coffee shop / restaurant and the gift shop with all the National Trust offerings.

SUSSEX DAY for the Jaguar Daimler Enthusiasts will take place on the south lawns - perfect for that picnic lunch, watch the polishers in action as they prepare their Jaguar / Daimler for one or more of the condition awards.

This year, Sussex Jaguar Enthusiasts welcome our event supporter Guy Salmon Ltd – the Jaguar main dealer based at Manor Royal, Crawley, West Sussex. See the latest models on display and listen to what the dealership can offer club members - particularly savings that they can offer during this difficult economic climate.

You do not have to book in advance, just turn up on the day. Apparently the house and grounds are lovely with views over The Solent to the Isle of Wight.

I realise it's a bit further south than Liddington and not adjacent to the motorway but I know from experience that there are some great roads down there.

Libby and I will be there and I hope that new BB member Neville (thanks for the pointer Neville) can attend so I can see again the Celebration in Anthracite that I so nearly bought.

i wont be able to make it , as its over two hours away from me ,

i will have to find something a little closer if i'm to attend an event this year ( prolly not )

Tony (and everyone else),
Would have liked to travel down for this and support the event but I have traced the 'bouncy rear end handling problem' (no rude comments Tony!) that manifested itself on the outing to KWE - its the rear shocks failing! I have bought replacements but not had time to fit them yet and won't before the event. Must get them sorted and use the car, don't think we've done more than a few hundred miles this year.

I'm unable to make it as well Tony. I've had to re-arrange the tracking for next week as I found I was double booked with the Berlingo having a safety re-call. I want the tracking done properly by the Jaguar specialist nearby, not some monkey at Kwik-Fat.

Thanks for asking re car, it is truly luvverly.
Fitted new fuel sender unit a couple of weeks ago (I have fabricated a special tool for removal and fitment of same should anyone need it). Gauge is now accurate at start-up but still falls away a bit. However it does not spend most of its time on the empty stop with the low fuel warning light on as previously.
Have purchased a brand new 5- spoke diamond turned alloy wheel (from e-bay)and done away with the space saver, also new cover to fit.
This week new remote fob supplied and programmed by HA Fox so that's now as it should be.
Next job is slight fluid leak from PAS reservoir area, I'm not sure if it's a hose gone hard or the reservoir itself split on under seam so will prob. replace the whole lot at one go.
Still returns 25mpg average, what more can you ask for
