Possibly helpful advice...

Postby SimonR » Thu Jul 16, 2009 12:01 pm

I found this on another car-related forum and thought that some people might find it amusing and useful:

I'm a huge fan of Roger Welsch, who writes humorous books
on tractor repair, women and wives, and how to go about
restoring tractors while remaining married. Some of this
can be applied to cars (or anything you collect).

Among his advice: 1. Never keep a count or a list of how
tractors you own.

2. Never, ever park them all in a nice, neat row where they
can be counted. Park them in places so that from any place
that you are standing, you can never see more than three at
any given time.

And on another piece of advice regarding why we need so
many tools, I apply this to cars. I'm single but I own two
cars (sometimes three), and people occasionally pester me
about why I keep the extras. Well, I live in an area where
I *need* a car, and local busses and trains don't go where
I need to go. If one car's ailing, I need the second one
to get around. And on more than one occasion, I had one in
the shop when the 2nd one died on me. So really I need
three. And what happens if it had a problem (these things
do occur) or someone borrows it, or it's stolen?

So really, you need as many as you can get.
