Hi,
I just wondered if anyone knows the purpose of the under floor mounting points in the front footwells of a Facelift XJS 4L Automatic Coupe?
At first I thought they may have been for a pedal box for manual cars but it looks like whatever is intended to fit here mounts from the underside so I am guessing it is something to do with cross bracing for the convertible models.
On my car they have proven to be a rust trap and the floor has corroded away underneath the plate. I am in the process of replacing the rotten sections of the floor but I don't intent to re-provide the mounting points unless anyone has a good reason why they need to be retained?
Welcome your views. I have attached a couple of photos for reference.
Regards
Mike

Hi Mike,
I can see you haven’t had a reply from your November post.
Thanks for the pictures,as I will be tackling this area next and thought of doing away with this convertible bracing fixing. This is only where my floor rust is.

Re: Footwell Mounting Points?
Hi Nick,
Thank you for your reply. Good luck with your replacement work. Unfortunately, my floor had rusted away from front to back on both sides and it turned into a major job. The rear jacking points on both sides had rusted away too and also the bump stop mounts in the rear wheel arches. All sorted now though.
