Hello everybody from Padova, Italy close to Venice !

it is now almost two months since I collected my MY2009 XK convertible and just joined this wonderful club through the Italian region created last December, and I just love my XK !

Since January 2020 I've been searching far and wide for a suitable convertible, examining several Mercedes like the SL, SLK, SLC, CLK, BMW 640 vert, Z4, .etc, but none really caught my full attention..

Then one evening in October I stumbled upon this video on Youtube.....https://youtu.be/xVKkv-fVsXE and I was blown away by the love and passion this Englishman was expressing for his XK convertible...and at 08:25 there is an irresistible call to arms to all us petrolheads I just couldn't pass !
So the choice was taken that evening...I must get an XK convertible !!

Now let's have some fun ........my XK convertible doesn't exist according to the info mentioned in the XK Model section of this site.
Can you guess why ?

Welcome Roberto! And thanks for the link. The video sums up nicely what a lot of us think about our XKs. However, beware. Owning a Jaguar can become a disease and there's no vaccine to cure it. In the past, I've driven to Italy in my XKR and I look forward to the time again when I can repeat the exercise to enjoy some of your wonderful scenery, food and wine. Hi Roberto, welcome to the Modern XK. Like Mike, I too regularly take my XKR Convertible down to Italy (from Scotland) to holiday on Lake Garda (Bardolino) - so not too far from you in Padova. I will be sure to let you know the next time I have a visit planned.
There are a number of articles in the Modern XK column of the magazine of my trips to Bardolino, the last one was in the May 2020 magazine, which you should be able to find in the digital back copies of the magazine on the JEC website.
As the person responsible for the Modern XK column, I would really like to hear more from our new Members in Italy, so perhaps you could encourage them with Modern XK to send me some of their experiences - it sounds as though you have a tale to tell with your own (non-existent) Modern XK, a really nice example if I might say.

well thank you very much for your warm welcome, much appreciated !

Yuo are most welcome to get in contact with me if you are pointing your XK toward North Italy in the coming months, I would be very happy to meet you somewhere on the Garda Lake !

Can't wait to spend a weekend touring the Garda lake topless with my XK convertible come spring !

Regarding my non-existent XK convertible...well the explanation is simple : my XK has the 3.5 liter V8 !
This version is not listed in your XK Model section, and it is understandable since this version was never offered in the U.K, but only in some selected markets in Europe, namely Italy, Germany, Holland, Scandinavia...

From the Jaguar Customer care service I got the production numbers of the XK 3.5L from 2006 to 2009 : total number produced were only 1274 of which 644 were convertibles, and one is mine !

Hope to meet you soon during some JEC events or also privately should you come to Italy in the coming months !
