Non parking wipers

Postby JoandKevin » Wed May 13, 2009 11:30 pm

We own a 1987 3.6 coupe that has a small problem with the wipers. The switch works fine and all speeds of the wipers are ok, but they will not park at the end of the sweep.

The switch only acts as an on/off position. In the intermittent, the wipers only work for the period of time the power is turned on.

As the car has been returned to the road after a couple of years, could the water have made its way around the housing and corroded the wiring/park solenoid.

Are there any modifications I can make, wrapping the motor in a plastic bag for example, to eliminate this occurring again?

After reading some more posts on this site relating to the same problem, I applied liberal quantities of releasing fluid to the wipers an they now park on the left.

Another problem has arisen, they will eventually stop after a couple of minutes. Is there a timer relay hidden in the electrics that could be faulty?

I have a similar problem, it will be either the motor or the switch, or a bit of both! I bought a new switch but having read this I'm going to check the motor out first:
