Re-connecting a battery

Postby Alan C » Sun Aug 16, 2020 11:29 pm

I need to disconnect my battery, are there any issues I need to be aware of when re-connecting, such as radio codes, window reset etc

You will need the radio code before disconnection.

Upon re-connection you will need to enter that code into the radio. Then you will need to re-set the clock.

That should be all you need.

You also need to reset the handbrake and windows, or at least you do on mine.

Handbrake - the information area in the speedo prompts you to depress the brake pedal then apply the handbrake while keeping the pedal depressed.

For each window: hold the switch to open it and keep holding for 1 sec after it's fully open, then repeat for fully closed. (On my car I can hear a click after the motor stalls).

Oh, and if you're had the battery out for more than about 20 mins, the gearbox will have forgotten its settings; they'll come back with time, but changes might not be so smooth at first.
