Space saver wheel?

Postby rolyh » Thu Jul 30, 2020 4:54 pm

Hi I bought a XF 2.2 D just before the lock down. I'm very happy with the car.
But I have never had a car without a spare wheel before; and it is a concern to me, as even though there is a get you home kit I would prefer a space saver spare wheel. Where would be the best place to purchase one? And do they fit into the boot OK with out taking up too much space?

Cars with wheel repair kits don't have jacks etc so it's best to buy the complete kit from one of the Jaguar specialist breakers (like Eurojag) which advertise in the back of Jaguar Enthusiast magazine. There are two sizes of spacesaver used on the XF, dependent upon the size of brakes fitted. I'd hazard a guess that the diesel model is fitted with smaller brakes and therefore the more commonly available 18" spacesaver will fit. Mike.

Thank you Mike,
I have looked at Eurojags website and did sell a lit at reasonable price, but it is no longer in stock. I shall ring them on Monday, to see if/when they will be back in stock, and also try a few other places.
I must say you do have a lovely selections of cars.

Thanks Rolyh. I do like my multi-cylinder Jaguars (6,8 & 12). Good luck with the hunt for a spare. Mike.

I have recently purchased one for my XF Sportbrake off ebay plus a cover and jack, all in about £140. Does take up some boot space though as not enough room in the boot well for it.
