Both my children boys aged 23 and 25 assumed a mid life crisis when last year I brought a4l xjs manual,but having taken the older one to various football matches and the youngest one to Edinburgh to watch the Calcutta cup this year,they are slowly coming round to the shear beauty of the car,and I have told my granddaughter I will take her to her prom in it. Because she is only 3 months old,I will need to keep the car on the road for a while yet, and drive it lots. After all you can’t break your promise!

ok here i go,a 1992 4 litre XJs,i am the 3rd owner,my father in law,a few years ago owned an xj12 i think,when the government scrappage plan was going i think the early 90s? He scrapped the car for a Hyundai, he offered me the jaguar,but 2 small children and a mortgage meant it would be impossible,anyway i told him “if i ever bought a jaguar it would be the xjs”.
Fast forward to 2018, my mum dies after a short illness and i am driving to work when a jaguar xjs passes me,and i thought it was the best looking car i’ve ever seen, so with my inheritance i did all the sensible things and started to search for the car.
After a long search i was all ready to go to Lincolnshire for a 3.6 manual version (what i really wanted was a 4l manual with the leaping cat mascot on the front). But my son couldn’t take me there that weekend, so i prepared to wait, a man at work asked if i had seen the one on the internet in my town for sale, 4l,manual,no leaping cat,i went to view it,now own it.
It turns heads,starts conversation in petrol stations,and motorway services, the family are getting to love it, i’m still working on my wife and sister-in-law,but the best one is my younger son’s friend sat in it and said it was like a James Bond car,i’ll take that any day

Nice looking car!
My first Jaguar was an identically coloured V12 XJS - F247 PAN ...and so it began
I used to find if I got onto a nice straight stretch of road and feathered the throttle at about 55mph I could get the trip computer to read about 15.6 MPG!

I defiantly try not to read the M.P.G trip,but driving it to Edinburgh and back i filled up when i got to Edinburgh,and again about 20 miles from home(Bournemouth). That i was pleased with,once it is rolling its not to bad,designed for motorway driving
