Hi I'm David and from Derbyshire and new to the club. I have recently purchased a 2012 Modern XK. It isn't fitted with a space saver wheel and has a repair kit in which the tyre sealant is out of date, namely 2016. The size of the container is 560ml and I can't find a replacement of that size anywhere. Although to be fair I haven't been to a Jaguar agent because of perceived cost. One site states a 450ml container has now replaced the 560ml but that doesn't seem right to me. Can anyone give me the solution please?

Hi David,
As with all things, progress is not always welcomed. The change from a spare wheel, to a space saver to spray-in tyre sealant have all been driven by the improvements in technology and the drive to reduce / hold costs. However; I do believe that the improvements in tyre sealant has resulted in the ability to carry a smaller can of the 'stuff', but always follow the instructions / directions for safe use of the sealant.
This is one of the vagaries of modern motoring, especially for those of us who grew up with the spare wheel as an essential piece of motoring equipment - that had to be pressure checked every week, or at least before an important / long journey. However; there is now an ongoing debate in the Jaguar Enthusiast magazine about the spare wheel issue, so why not join in there, see page 70?
Speaking of joining in and as a new member, why not come along to the Modern XK Section Drive it Weekend, which will be on your doorstep in Derbyshire at the end of April 2020? The details for participation are in the latest (March 2020) edition of the magazine. see page 63.
Regards
Jim Mann

Re: Continental Tyre Repair Sealant
Hi Jim, Thanks for coming back to me. I accept and agree with your comments and have now purchased a 450mm container of sealent from a dealer on ebay on the basis of it being the biggest available, it should do. I contacted two local Jaguar dealers both of whom wanted to sell me a replacement but they couldn't/wouldn't tell me what size it would be. Thanks for your welcome to the club and I had noticed the Derbyshire XK drive it. I would have loved to have participated but I am a member of the Notts & Borders group and they are doing an interesting drive to Bomber Command which conflicts. However I do intend to be as active as possible in club activities. The XK is my eighth Jaguar and I cant think why I haven't joined the club before. Regards
