Hi,
Thought i'd pick your brains on this very annoying and loud squeaking that has developed over the last month, 2006 xkr 4.2 supercharged convertible, when on bumpy ground only badly squeaks from the front end, sounds like a 1930's camp bed being overused, maybe suspension coil springs, or may be bushes ( hopefully not engine bushes ), but i'm not technically minded, so your opinions are greatly appreciated before i take it down to the Jag specialist.

Have you had a really good look?
Re: XKR 4.2 LOUD SQUEAKING FROM FRONT END
There are known issues of the front sub-frame bushes seizing or wearing down sufficiently to wreck the sub-frame. My learned friend Mike H, would no doubt be able to elaborate on the matter. Almost certainly that would perhaps cause excessive noise.
Just an idea to pursue.

Re: XKR 4.2 LOUD SQUEAKING FROM FRONT END
Thanks for the recommendation, Mike! I think you are probably recalling the XK8 (X100) issue of the top wishbone bushes seizing to the pivot and destroying the subframe and or the top wishbones. The design of the top wishbone bushes of the aluminium cars (X150, 2006 onwards) is different and, to date, I haven't seen a similar issue reported for them. The bushes do wear and can make noises but the consequences may not be quite as dire as on the earlier cars. The wishbone bushes and shocker bushes/mounts are worth checking as prime suspects. Mike.
