Has anyone suggest quieter and softer ride tyres than Pirelli for 3.0 x type?

Pirelli, certainly can be quite hard and uncompromising. They are one brand of tyre I just can`t get on with.

Dunlop Mxx is rather more compliant. I`ve taken to using Jinyu Gallapro tyres on both my tweaked XJR 350 and our hack Peugeot Tepee disabled van. I`ve been running these tyres now for a couple of years and find they do everything you would expect from a budget tyre without paying for premium branding. £100 a corner for the XJR and £65 a corner on the van. The van was taken off heavy duty commercial tyres as my disabled father found the ride far to harsh and frequently got travel sick. No issue now on the Gallapro tyres. Fine in the wet or dry. Not much grip on ice but then any summer grade tyre is going to be like that. Horses for courses and in my case, more than adequate for 98% of the use our cars usually get. Even premium grade tyres loose the plot in icy conditions.

Swopped Pirellis for Goodyear on my XK8. Result instant noise reduction...road roar almost gone. Have swapped Pirellis for Hankooks on my present XF and again a much quieter tyre. Pirellis definitely seem to have a high noise ratio which seems to get worse as the tyres wear. When you search for tyres check the noise rating as a guide as to what to expect.
