Electric window button replacement

Bit of a numpty question, but I've just ordered a couple of replacement window buttons (DAC7526 & DAC7527) for the ski slope as the existing ones have faded and just wanted to ask if there's a simple way of getting the buttons out without damaging the wood? Do they just ping out with a bit of wedged presssure underneath? Thanks.

The answer is Yes, but it's much better to lift the skislope and push them from below when you can better get to the engagement nibs on the switches without breaking them.

A really small change, but when you compare old and new it looks so much better. Whilst I took Paul's advice to lift the ski slope and get to the black plastic fascia from behind, 24 year old plastic is quite brittle and I have lost a bit, so it's a tiny bit spongy now and the main surround is about 80% fixed...but never mind.

if required, i have brand new window switch bezels, brand new cigar lighter bezels and brand new speed control bezels for the ski slope , not cheap though as these are rare and hard to find in the packets
but they do give you a sense of pride that the switches arnt rattling around, lol

Ooh, I'd love to get my hands on the switch bezel and the cigarette lighter one, but obvs they need to be for a 95 facelift and depending on how extortionate they are . I'll PM you BB...thanks.

I thought that you can release the switches without needing to remove the bezel.

Technically you can, but I've seen loads of owners snap the locating tangs when trying to do it (including myself!) that I believe its much safer to do it from underneath.

I meant to say that I thought that you could remove the switches from beneath without having to disturb the bezel, I agree it should be possible from the top but there is a risk of damage.

I'm curious because I need to sort an intermittent fault on my passenger side switch. I recently purchased a couple of replacements to do at some point but actually the worn patina may be the way I go and just repair. It's a fairly easy job to remove the outer switch cover and clean the contacts.

Sorry I misunderstood you.

Yes, you can remove the switches without removing the bezel if you go from below.

Basically, don't try and remove the switches or remove the bezel from above as there's a very real chance of either the switch tangs or the bezel tangs breaking.

Lift the skislope and then either remove the whole bezel or carefully just remove the switches by carefully depressing the tangs from below

Need not have worried about this. Went in from underneath only to discover that the bezel had been previously glued. Now has new working switches (I'll keep the old ones and clean up the contacts) Bezel sits okay but I'll probably put a small drop of glue until JLR re-manufacture. It's quite a rare part although seemingly easily available from the US. Think I'll by a 3D printer instead
