XF Rear lights

I have just purchased a 65 plate XF 2.2D and I have noticed the 3 "dot" LEDS on the side at the rear stay on when I'm driving. I can turn them off with the key when stationary but they then come back on when driving. if I turn the daytime running lights off they appear to stay off, but if the daytime running lights are on they seem to stay on - is this correct, or should they go off ??
can anyone help

A quick look at the Owners Manual might give some details.
