Neglected 3.6 Auto - whats it worth?

Postby iRS » Wed Jun 12, 2019 5:24 pm

Our local JEC region has been offered a car to sell with proceeds to go to our nominated charity. The car is a late '80's 3.6 Auto coupe and has sat on someone's drive for a number of years. It did drive, but the previous owner, at the last MOT (many years ago) was advised that it would probably not pass another one. I'm told the engine and box is good and have covered less than 90k. The sills look gone, rust in the lower wings bonnet and various other places. The interior is so-so-ish, the wheels are good and the exhaust is said to be stainless steel.

Can anyone advise what its worth and what is the best thing to do with it?

I typed the plate into a valuation site but couldn`t get a definitive result. However, SXF45 was available for £2330.

The XJS is possibly just spares potential. I suppose that makes it worth what you are prepared to offer for it on the day.....

Thanks for the input guys. I think the plate is a mute point as it would cost more to make toe car roadworthy to be able to transfer it than its worth.
I've subsequently heard from Just XJ-S who have essentially said its not worth much. And particularly so as its so far away.
