Dummy Hartford damper disks

Postby NATONEIL » Wed Feb 13, 2019 11:59 am

After 32000 miles my dummy Hartford damper disks were looking a bit second hand and so I have invested in some new ones. Purchased from VCSA they are the correct size and design and will look great once I have cleaned the zinc star springs.[pic=][/pic]

Neil,

Mine are pretty crusty too.

I see you chose the 506 discs:

although the version on my Suffolk look more like 306:

Do they look/fit better?

I have not fitted them yet, but I expect the fit to be identical.
I went for the 506 because the silver star spring was fitted to them. The 306 uses a black rounded spring. I could not read the type No on my disks. I looked at a number of suppliers and VCSA seemed to be the best. Holdens was the most expensive.

I have seen both types fitted on original cars.

These are both 1938 2½-Litres:

Let me know if they fit!

Thanks Roy. I will try one out in the morning. I asked the same question on Facebook and I suspect it will spark quite a bit of discussion.

The 4 1/2 inch name discs from VCSA fit well. I have cleaned up the star springs and after degreasing them will give them a coat of clear polyurethane before fitting them.
