Nose Job

Postby JaguarXKSports » Thu Jan 24, 2019 11:47 am

Hi

I have one of the original XKR's and have owned her for more than 15 years.

The 'Nose Cone' has taken the brunt of stones, gravel, supermarket parking and other hazards throughout the years and I am going to have a Nose Job to have a respray as the remainder of the car is immaculate

As an afterthought I wondered if the later model X 100 nose with the deeper front skirt would be a bolt on bolt off option.

Has anyone done this conversion, or knows if this is possible

Thanks

Nick MD

Hi and welcome. Not tried this conversion so can't say if it's totally straightforward. It's usually silly little things, like Jaguar changing the wiring loom or the connectors which complicates otherwise simple upgrades. Assuming you would be buying a second hand nose, my suggestion would be to have a discussion with a friendly Jaguar breaker, perhaps asking to see one of each version of nose side by side. Then, it should be relatively easy to make your decision on the way forward. Mike.

Hi Mike

You are correct.. Jaguar changed the size of the spotlights, so straight away there is extra work.

I will take your advice and contact a Jag Breaker to see if he knows what is involved.

The other option that l am looking at is an underskirt. I have seen them on other cars, but have no idea where to get one.
I have also looked at aftermarket front ends, but no way would l put a boy racer kit on her

I will keep looking

Best regards

Nick
