LWB rear door chromes
Sorry if this had posted before but I can't find any info. I have a 1998 LWB. The chromes on the rear doors are bulging out, due to rust underneath. Can the chromes be removed and the rust treated or are new doors required?

Re: LWB rear door chromes
Hi simonx308,
I think these are the parts your referring to,item No 6.
Page is located at
https://www.jaguarclassicparts.com/uk/j ... annel-rear
They do come off but be very careful because they can kink quite easily.
In the X308 Workshop Manual the only reference to the rear door waist seal is on page 2191 to 2193:
Removal:
10. Exercising care to avoid damaging paintwork, remove door
outer waist rail and rear outer finisher.
Installation:
7. Fit and fully seat door outer finisher.
8. Fit and fully seat door outer waist rail.
9. Fit cheater inner finisher.
Hope that helps mate,
Enjoy your X308,
Take Care,
Andy

Re: LWB rear door chromes
Cheers guys. I did mean the door frames. The chromes themselves are in good condition. The actual frame under the chromes is rusting and pushing the chromes out. Is the door one piece or can you buy new frames ?

Re: LWB rear door chromes
Hi again simonx308
Found this info on page 2034 of the X308 Workshop Manual.
Each front and rear door consists of a welded, mild steel inner frame and an outer panel. The outer panel is welded to the
waist rail and cheater of the inner frame, then bonded and clinched to form the door assembly. Cosmetic PVC bead is
applied to all clinch joints. Sponge rubber primary and secondary seals are mounted on the doors. Internal insulation is
provided by a foam water shedder attached to the door by double-sided adhesive tape. Front and rear door armrests are
secured by internal and external screws to support brackets riveted to each door frame. All external armrest securing
screws are concealed. Each door casing complete with door pocket is secured to the door by clips and screws. Multi-plug
connectors facilitate connection of the electrical harness to guard lamps, window lift switches, speakers, external mirrors
and regulator, all of which are accommodated within the doors.
I don't think you can buy just the frames.
If you can't repair them then second hand ones will have to be sourced I'm afraid.
Hope that helps.
Good luck,
Andy

Re: LWB rear door chromes
Thanks for the help Andy. Looks like it's a pair of new doors then. Or good second hand, if I can find any.

Re: LWB rear door chromes
Hi
How did you get on with replacing the chrome trims?
I own a 2002 LWB and one of my rears is pushing up.
Did you find much corrosion on the door?
