Hi,
I'm trying to find some rear springs for my 1993 XJS 6.0 Conv and apparently they are no longer available!! Does anyone have any suggestions?
I would also like to replace the shocks at the same time but am being quoted £100+ each "as they're different" to other XJS's, is that true?
Cheers
Jon

DM are advertising a newly made up batch of springs.
Not sure if this is a tacit admission that a lot of the previous aftermarket ones were rubbish (at least one restorer is of this opinion) or just happy advertising.
There are different shockers for 4 ltr, 6 ltr and again for coupes and convertibles. If you can get the genuine Jaguar sportspack item for under a wallet wrenching £500 a set, you're doing really well.

Rear Springs not available!!!!
Hi Jon,
I've just had the rear springs and shocks done by the Kent Jag Centre on my 1993 6.0 ltr coupe. The originals were different depending on whether the sports or touring option was put on the car from factory.
The ones that were put on my coupe have made a great difference to the ride.
They advertise in the JEC magazine and have their own web site.
Hope it helps, Kevin.
As a matter of interest when was your car built? My convertible was made in June 93 with a vin of 188688.

Hi thanks for all this, i'll get onto KJC. My car is early 189900's so very close, i've got the heritage cert somewhere but for the build date- it was originally a Browns Lane car.

Just as a thought, on the race cars many people fit standard racing 1.9 inch racing springs on adjustable dampers to the rear, although the conversion may be about £300 you can then have what ever damping you prefer, from far to soft to stupidly hard and anything in between, and you can select race springs which are available in almost every rate, again from far too soft to far too hard and everything in between.
Although the cost of the dampers is high (but similar to standard OE ones) proper racing springs are only about £20 each, so you can afford to try a few options.
Just a thought.
Cheers Ralph

Further to this - i have been doing some research and have some possibilities, could anyone tell me the correct ride hight for my car front and rear? From the centre of the wheel to the arch?

Just to say that i've found somewhere to custom make these hard to find springs and they are willing to personalise them too for the same cost (lower/stiffen etc) they have spring specs for all XJS it would seem. They are also very reasonable!

I should add that they will make them specially for your model car front and rear any model XJS to manufacturers spec of to your preference.
