2.7 v6 limp mode

hi hope i can sort it went on a long drive yesterday 90 ish all the way over an hour each way ran like a dream as always then today drove to work all good but on the way home with in yards of starting off it went in limp mode with the orange light only on i pluged my chinese obd reader and no faults found cleared the codes and light went off but came on seconds later
so do i need to buyan i car soft reader is it that sensitive

I read about your problem, whilst I do not have an S type, I had this type of problem with my 308- in my case it was solved by the replacing of faulty ht plug coils.

Multiple issues can cause limp home mode, yes you do need a decent code reader to find all possibilities such as icarsoft

Many thanks got the icar soft v 2 a great bit of kit came up with Exhaust Recirculation control Range/performance so fingers crossed egr valves clean and will see what happens

well pulled of all the pipes to both egr valves and all ok valves looked very dry and clean didnt have time to take them off will do that another day but the map sensor was chocked up cleaned it up but still the same will replace it and dig out those erg valves

Hi Richard,

Check the exhaust manifold bolts too, can fail and will throw up spurious exhaust codes as the exhaust gas content can be out of the expected parameters, may only be allowing a small leak, so wont be audible.

Many thanks all its sorted now was the VGR valve replaced both not a hard job but needed hands of a 5 year old and good at fitting bolts in a tight blind wholes
but did find it a big help replacing the torqes bolts to allen bolts
on start up both valves had a reading of 5% went for a drive and back to its super smoth pick up happy days

i have the v2 icarsoft so any one needs it in oxford feel free to borrow it in oxfordshire
