Hi Mark,

I hope you're well. I'm also catching up on things myself.

The club seem to have removed the previous registers of members vehicles. It seems a retrograde step because as the ex- XJS co-ordinstor, it was probably the single most useful statistical tool I had at my disposal because of the very detailed information it gave me on all our member vehicles. We've now really lost our ability to properly find vehicles for shows, displays, magazines, PR events etc, inform technical discussions, parts supply issues etc and answer member enqueries. The removal of it must have hugely impacted our Co-ordinators ability to fully perform their roles

Ask the club to reinstate it!

Cheers

Whilst it would be useful I should think that GDPR is the obstacle to publishing what amounts to personal data

Is it not the case that under GDPR we (whose data is stored)only need to give our consent to the format and nature that it will be used. Could we not tick a box to agree to this being the case. It is such a shame that legislation designed to protect can also hinder. My thoughts would be on entering such information on a publicly accessible forum that agreement is implied (At least form GDPR commencement)

I agree with Nick and would also like to see the database reinstated.

However, compiling and maintaining a database is time consuming; I suspect the true reason for its demise is a lack of resources and commitment at management level. Any volunteers out there?!

Robbie,

I am having deja vu with this thread. The register disappeared with the website upgrade.

I agree that this is a facilityn that should be reinstated.

At the risk of putting my head in a noose I may be persuaded to volunteer some time to help make this happen.

Me too!

I will be interested to see if Mike H picks up this thread and gives us the management perspective.

Keeping the database up to date is always a problem when so many can't even be bothered to say what car they have in their signature.

I understand the general criticism but don't follow how it applies here. If the data base entries are voluntary (and under GDPR I think they would have to be) only those who are "bothered" will contribute. By definition therefore contributors will want to keep their data up to date.
