XJS 3.6 manual Manual

Postby sian » Sun Aug 26, 2018 11:01 am

Hi all, I'm experiencing clutch problems with my manual XJS and I'm in need of a decent manual. Any recommendations of a good how to manual that features an in depth look at my car? I'm getting fed up of looking at nothing but V12 and automatics.

If you search around the jaguarclassicparts website you can find a few exploded diagrams:

What problems are you having?

Thanks Steve, I'll have a look.

Basically I went to start the car, put my foot on the clutch peddle and there was no feel of anything there. I've been advised that it could just be an issue with the fluid needing to be bled through so am looking into that.

Should have known something was wrong though, all the electrics have been working fine (randomly) for the last month, and its when everything appears to be running smoothly that I start getting aprehensive with this car lol!

You need the Jaguar AKM 9063 service manual, similar to this one:

If you can, get the later bound one with the supplement for 4.0 litre engines, quite costly but will hold its value if you ever come to sell it.

Could be the fluid needs replacing but if not then may be the slave cylinder which bolts to the gearbox - had similar problem with my Stag where clutch pedal just went to the floor all fo a sudden and you could see fluid dripping, so obvious spot. This was an easy fix but if at the pedal end then is more complex. I too have a manual XJS so am very interested to hear how you get on.
