CRANK POSITION SENSOR

Postby vipervisual » Mon May 28, 2018 8:14 pm

Hi everyone!
I want to replace the crank position sensor on my 1985 manual xj-s. However my mechanic cannot find where it is located. Can anyone advise me where to direct him to look please? The part was purchased from sng barratt and they confirmed my car does have this part. If you know otherwise let me know!

Thanks in advance
:)

1985 manual, so we are talking about the 3.6 I assume.
The 3.6 had a substantial makeover in early '87 with the introduction of the 'microfuelling' system, this was when the CPS was first used.
Easy to spot the differnce, the post '87 engines had the air flow meter and round air filter, the earlier ones had the square air filter.

Maybe SNG Barratt have confused the Crank Position Sensor with the Throttle Position Sensor which the early engine has?
