Dynamo to Alternator conversion - Wiring
Moderators:Aceman, ecosselynx
One more observation for people converting polarity. I read as many threads as i could find before changing from posative to negative earth but didn't see this one. After changing the alternator, and the tribulations of doing so, whils't running the engine and checking everything i noticed that i seamed to have more fuel in the tank than i thought i had, then noticed she was getting a little hot very quickly. I had not thought, as i had not read it, that the 10volt instrument stabilizer would blow as soon as the new polarity contacted it. Therefore a new negative earth 10 volt stabilizer is on order.

Hello Doherto,
is your stabiliser a non standard electronic one as the original is not polarity conscious.

Like almost everything i have touched during this rebuild, it a fancy polarity sensitive new one. Lesson learned
