What's that rattle?!

On bumpy roads I've got an annoying rattle from the front (N/S/F, I think) of my X350R. My garage assures me that the suspension and anti-roll bar bushes are all fine so I guess it must be something else. I've heard of issues with riveted aluminium panels at the front of these cars coming loose. Could it be that - or something else? Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated. Many thanks. Charlie
Re: What's that rattle?!
I suggest you check for missing/broken anti-rattle clips on the front brake pads; if faulty these can allow the brake pads to make loud rattling or clanking noises when going over bumps.

A dull "bonk, thonk" is usually ARB bush wear.
"Click-clack" is usually the ARB to lower wishbone, vertical links. Prices are a humble £15-20 for each vertical link. So you can put four new links on the car for around £80. If you can get the car on ramp, then you don`t even need to remove the wheels. I usually cut through the nuts and threaded portion with an angle grinder fitted with a 1mm slitting disc. That takes about five minutes with another five minutes spent tightening the two nuts on the new link. You should be able to replace all links in less than an hour.
Hope that helps.

Re: What's that rattle?!
Brian/Mike, Thanks for your advice. I'll check-out both the vertical links and the anti-rattle clips on the front brake pads. Thanks again. Charlie
Re: What's that rattle?!
I have a rattle in the same area on my car also and last week discovered it is coming from the bracket that holds the air suspension compressor. There seems to be a small bush on this and mine is worn. I am going to attempt to get my front bumper off in the next couple of weeks to repair a parking sensor so I will try and do this at the same time.

What's that rattle?!
Thanks, Jimdox. I plan to check the anti-rattle clips on the disc pads first (as I'm planning to replace the front discs/pads anyway) and, if that doesn't do the trick I'll check-out the vertical links and the suspension compressor bracket. Regards. Charlie

What's that N/S/F rattle?!
My garage tell me that an air conditioning pipe in the N/S/F wheel arch area (behind the wheel arch liner) has come loose and appears to be the source of the rattle. The garage has refitted the pipe to its bracket and, so far, the rattle appears to have gone. Let's hope they are right!
