Hi All,
Whilst killing my lunch break in front of the PC, I stumbled across the following:
http://austin-rover.co.uk/index.htm?daimlerxjsf.htm
Now, one of the reasons for me buying the XJS, apart from being a Jag Enthusiast, is because of the buttresses. In my opinion, I defy anyone to find a more unique car than the XJS.
However, having had a look at this site, and how the XJS might have been, I must say the Daimler XJS does look nice without the buttresses.
My question to myself is, do I prefer this one better??(not that I could ever buy one)
Anybody else feel free to add their comments regarding the Daimler

Daimler XJS
Hi there
I remember seeing this car at Brands Hatch a few years ago, and I thought it looked very "natural" without the buttresses, and very desireable. Very much like a cabriolet, of course.
Regards,
Keith.

Re: Daimler XJS
The flying buttresses make the car! It looks very odd seeing an XJS without them.
On a vaguely related note - I saw an Eventer XJS for the first time on Sunday, driving around Highbury corner. Christ, what an ugly car! Why would Jaguar take a car as unique and distinctive as the XJS and plonk a big estate arse on the end of it?!

I agree, the buttresses makes the car, no question. As keith put it, the Daimer does look natural without them. As if that was how the XJS was meant to be.
I might be wrong, but Jaguar did manufacture the Eventer. It was a third party, lynx I think. It is ugly!

And it was at the NEC Classic Car Show last weekend.
Looks like a very nice car; shame it never went into production

Guys,
Here is a link to a picture I took of the car on a visit to Browns Lane with the Forum earlier this year.

I have to say I thought the car looked good but I do like the buttresses of our cars, it makes them distinctive compared to other GT's. Suppose it's like Marmite, you either love it or hate it

Guys,
Also took a photo of another significant car (certainly helped promote the XJS!) - Princess Di's.

There was also a very nice twin turbo but the light wasn't good enough and it was too cramped to get a decent photo.
