Here's a simple question for someone I'm sure.
What was the difference between standard leather and the Autolux leather fitted to some V12s and optional on 4.0s?
Are they noticeably different if I was to use some autlolux replacement trim in a non Autolux car?
What was the leather used in Celebration cars?
Thanks in anticipation to anyone who knows and replies.

Autolux leather
Phil,
Autolux is a higher quality leather that has a slightly softer feel.
Late (Celebration) Cars have differing types of leather dependent on whether they are 4.0 litre or 6.0 litre cars. The 4 litre cars have "standard" leather and the 6.0 litre cars have Autolux leather. However, the big difference is that the the 6.0 litre late cars have not just Autolux leather but it is of the ruched type. This basically looks as if it has lots of mini-gathering or a pleated-type effect on the central panels.
In addition you will notice that although nominally the same colour code, ruched autolux leather looks a different colour from the same code of "standard" leather. I think that seats made up of different types will look mis-matched.
If you come to Southern Day you can see the difference in the colour of the Cream seats in my 4.0 litre and the Cream seats in Norman Hicks' 6.0 litre.
Hope that helps
Paul

Autolux leather
Hello,
This is my first time posting and I have learnt something new.
My 1995 6.0 has the Autolux leather and was in need of refreshing, so I got the standard colour code (Parchment) and applied the Liquid Leather Scuff Master kit. Even after doing a test patch, which first appeared OK, I found that the colour was darker and could not even lighten it with the kit lightener. I managed to get most of it off, except in the ruched part.
So now it looks dirty and I will have to get the seats spray-dyed and resealed.
Unless anyone has another idea?
Be warned!
Update: never believe the previous owner... its 'Oatmeal' (ADG),not 'Parchment'. Lesson learnt.
