XKR convertible roof slow operating
Moderators:MarkX, mike020150
Hi, my XKR (2000 model) suffers from slow opening and closing and has just started to make a squealing noise on the final closing operation. After a long period of inactivity it may also stick in the closed position but will eventually open after a few attempts and some upward pressure on the inside front. Does anyone have any ideas on what can be done to rectify this and who/where could repair take place? Many thanks
Re: XKR convertible roof slow operating
HI Martin - its a known issue for the hydraulic fluid to go a bit waxy which slows things down like you describe.
The replacement fluid is Jaguar part number JLM21112 or Pentosin CHF 11S. I believe Halfords also do a Central Hydraulic Fluid to the same spec. I think you need about 2 litres and the cost is £15-£20 per litre.
Its a messy business as the old fluid needs to be removed which involves opening up the pipe connection in the header rail so maybe best to get a specialist to do this for you?
Hope that helps
