I'm looking to order some basic service parts and was wondering if those of you who have used their services online in the past were pleased with the service and is it more cost effective to do this way rather than by direct from a Jaguar franchise!

If there is someone else that is as good and cost effective any details would be appreciated!

Cheers
Dougie

David Manners is my personal favorite for on-line ordering http://www.jagspares.co.uk/Manners/company.asp

all depends on what ur buying to be honest

i get an awful lot through the JEC's Heritage site, which gets delivered for free to you local dealership for you to pay for and pick up, or it can be posted to you,

you can also use a JEC card to get 15% discount from a dealer,

As BB says, it depends what you're buying. Specialists like SNG Barratt & David Manners can supply pattern parts but also have the ability to order original Jaguar parts through the Jaguar Dealer ordering system. The choice of pattern parts vs original parts for servicing is a very personal one. When it comes to things like oil filters, I always tend to stick to genuine Jaguar ones or else exact equivalents from someone like Fram. There's a lot of cheap rubbish out there without non-return valves etc. There are occasions where it's more cost-effective not to buy things in Jaguar boxes eg lambda sensors, where the original spec items are made by NTK but can be bought at 1/3 of the price if you don't want a Jaguar box!

The supplier of genuine Jaguar parts for XJSs is Jaguar Classic Parts (which is a division of Unipart). All XJS parts come via them whether ordered online or from the local Jaguar Dealer. Their website is:

www.jaguarclassicparts.co.uk

In my experience, if you want original Jaguar parts, I have found that you can get a better discount level ordering these through your local dealer as a JEC member. You used to be able to also get discount as JEC member when ordering online from Jaguar Classic Parts, although one of our members has said that they recently advised him that they no longer give discount. I'm still trying to get a definitive answer on that from them.

If you order for home delivery, then the order is delivered via the postal services of the JDHT. If you order online for despatch to your local dealer, then the JDHT is not involved.

Good Luck

personally, i like to look down into the engine bay and see ' Jaguar ' written on the filters etc, it may well cost a few quid more , but not enough to make me put a generic branded ones in

and when other people look in the engine bay they think that you are spending lots of money on the correct parts for maintenance , and that can have a knock on effect on the price if selling the car,

i would suspect that all the parts you want can easily be obtained from SNG or Martin Robey,

the choice is yours,

get a list of part numbers, and phone/email each one for a quote, stating to the non Jaguar outlets that you want to distinguish between genuine/OEM or replacement parts

keep all receipts for any parts you buy, it will add history and possibly value to your car by showing its well maintained

My personnel preference would be genuine Jaguar parts too and that is the road I'll go down, more for the confidence and assurance factor that it's not any old product I'm throwing on!

Good to get other prospectives here so thanks for that.

Just out of curiosity, apart from the engine oil how often should the other oils be changed out, auto transmission etc.......bought the car at the beginning of the year so thought I may as well get everything done and know where I stand!
